Of all the streamlined masterpieces to emerge from 1930s Europe, few match the presence and pedigree of this 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet A. Ordered under commission number 236582 for a member of the illustrious Embiricos family, the car is one of just 32 examples of this elegant two-seater design built by the in-house Sindelfingen works. Its original owner is believed to be Nicholas Embiricos, a noted Bugatti and ERA racer of the 1930s and cousin of André Embiricos, whose name is forever tied to the legendary Bentley Aerodynamic Coupe.
